Vegetablian in Tokyo 15 - nic Organic Restaurant

-nic- is an organic restaurant near the station Yotsuya. Lunch is from 11:30 to 14:30 on weekdays and during that time you can get a lunch set which includes a little (but amazing) starter salad, a main dish and a tea or coffee (you can also ask for soymilk 'tonyu') for 980¥. It is definately worth the price, because it tastes all very fresh, organic and awesome!
The dishes change a little bit from week to week, but the four options always include two vegan ones marked with a green letter, here B and D.
I went there once before to buy a bento box. For a bento it really was great quality, too, but nothing compared to the lunch set *_* !

Can't wait to go back there and take L. who sadly couldn't join me for this...

Vegetablian Tokyo 14 - Australian Cafe/ Restaurant in Asakusa

We coincidencely found an australian cafe/ restaurant walking around in Asakusa. They offer a few vegan dishes. We ate the Burmese Curry and the Veggie Green Curry for about 800¥. They were quite spicey and tasty. We came at night, so we didn't try, but apparently the coffe is very nice, too!
Its probably not worth to go to Asakusa only to go to this restaurant. But if you are in the area anyway and look for a nice meal you will probably not regret going there :) !

Vegetablian Tokyo 13 - Mumbai Indian Restaurant

Mumbai is an indian restaurant near the station Yotsuya. If you go during lunch time you can get two vegetarian curries (daal and vegetable curry), a little salat and all-you-can-eat rice and naan (indian bread) for 1000¥!! It is really good and a lot! If you are a student you even get a lassi for free :) .

Vegetablian in Tokyo 12 - Tendon Tenya Tempura

Tendon Tenya is a franchise that sells a lot of different tempura dishes. The vegetarian one costs 580¥ and is served with rice, miso soup and tea. I am pretty sure that the miso soup contains fish stock, but the tembura dish is quite big, so even if you don't eat the soup it's still worth the price!!
If you are worried that the sauce on top of the tempura might contain some fish extract, I recommend to order the dish without sauce and use soy sauce instead.
We went to the restaurant in Harajuku, but there are many more around in Tokyo (like Ueno, Shinjuku, Ginza, Asakusa,...).

Vegetablian in Tokyo 11 - Brown Rice Cafe Omotesando

The Brown Rice Cafe is located just off from Omotesando, inside the cosmetics shop Neals Yard.
They have a changing lunch menu, but the two times I went there was always, among others, some curry to chose. One lunch set costs around 1.600Yen, so its not really cheap, but for the amount of food and taste you get I definitely reccomend it. The dishes we ate the first time were a Tofu steak with vegetables and a curry set. The second time we had the soup meal and the steamed vegetables.

Vegetablian in Tokyo 10 - T's TanTan

T's TanTan is inside Tokyo Station on the "Keio Street" behind the ticket gates. It's a little hard to find at first, but a must go, if you want to enjoy vegan Ramen in Tokyo!
It's is an all vegan restaurant serving Tantanmen, soy sauce ramen, vinegar ramen and many more. On my first visit I chose the Tantanmen (850 Yen) and it tasted a bit of peanut and chilli. It was really nice. Another time I had a seasonal vegan Tonkotsu Ramen, which I also enjoyed.
My personal favourite is the Strammen / vinegar Ramen (880 Yen), as the vinegar gives the soup a really special taste.
They also sell vegan Ramen soup stock in the store, which I frequently use for cooking at home.

Vegetablian in Tokyo 9 - Chabuton Vege Ramen

Chabuton is a Ramen chain-store with various shops in Japan and even a store in Singapore. In Tokyo there is one store in Shimokitazawa. Chabuton mainly serves Tonkotsu-Ramen, meaning Ramen with Pork bone broth, but they have one Vegetarian dish: Vegetarian Ramen (for 820Yen) and Vegetarian Gyoza (for 300 Yen). Both tasted very good, especially the Gyoza!

Vegetablian in Tokyo 8 - Tokyo Vegefood Festa 2014

Today we went to the Tokyo Vegefood Festa at Yoyogi Park. Since 2006 it takes place once a year in Tokyo sometime between September and November. There are many stalls that sell vegetarian/ vegan/ macrobiotic products, organic clothes, drinks, vegetables, fruits and more!
We went for indian food! While enjoying it we even got to see a J-Pop band performing on the small stage.
When you are in Tokyo while this festival takes place you should definately drop by!

Vegetablian in Tokyo 7 - Komaki shokudo Akihabara

We went to a "Shojinryori" restaurant in Akiharabra - Buddhist food not using any animal products and not using certain spices. You can either chose the small version with three different dishes and rice or the large one where you get a small portion of all the dishes they have. We took the large version and it was so yummy! It costs about 1500¥.
Definitely a recommendation!

Vegetablian Tokyo 6 - Genki Sushi in Shibuya

Genki Sushi in Shibuya is a very delicious and cheap restaurant! Most things only cost 108¥ and taste very good. The amount of choice for vegetarians is not huge, but it's still enough to be happy!
On the pictures you get an idea about what you can eat. Additionally to that there are also vegetarian omelette onigiris and french fries!

Vegetablian in Tokyo 4 - Kick Back Cafe in Sengawa

Kick Back Cafe is a really nice restaurant/cafe near the station Sengawa on Keio Line.
They offer different kinds of vegan main dishes, deserts and drinks.
We tried the normal vegan Ramen, the soy cream Ramen, Gyoza and the vegan croquettes. All was really amazing!!
Everything is homemade (even the drinks!) and the portions are big. So the prices, around 950¥ for main dishes and 500¥ for deserts and drinks, are very reasonable!

Not only the food, but also the atmosphere is really nice! The restaurant has a little stage, where the band of the owner and staff members regularly perform. :)

Vegetablian in Tokyo 3 - Udon at Marugame Seimen in Shimokitazawa

We ate "Tororo Shoyu Udon" (Udon with yam) and "Oroshi Shoyu Udon" (Udon with radish) at Marugameseimen in Shimokitazawa. Marugameseimen (丸亀製麺) is an Udon chain store, where you choose your Udon at the counter and can also buy some Tempura. The two Udon dishes we had are supposed to be eaten with soysauce - The soysauce is provided at the table and you need to put it on the noodles yourself. Unfortunately the soysauce contains Bonito-Stock, so we brought our own sauce. The shop is quite nice, because it is cheap and tastes good and there are Udon which come without soup (soup usually contains Bonito-stock...)!
